This is a major milestone for countries with great space ambitions.Reuters reported that the country’s new Nuri rocket took off from the Naro Space Center Tuesday at 3 a.m. (07:00 GMT) and eventually placed six carriers in Earth orbit.According to Reuters, one of the carriers was a 162.5-kilometer 358-pound (358-pound) test satellite in contact with a base station in Antarctica after reaching orbit. The rest were 1.3 tons of dummy satellites and four small cube satellites developed by university researchers.South Korea’s Nuri rocket will be launched on June 21st, 2022. The first failed to put the dummy payload into orbit as planned after the third phase of the rocket ended early in October 2021.So Tuesday’s success was huge for South Korea, which hopes to launch its own navigational satellite and send a probe to the moon among other space targets. According to Reuters, shortly after the launch, President Yoon Suk Yeol said, “Now the road from our land to space has been opened. It was the product of 30 years of challenges. From now on, the dreams and hopes of the Korean people and young Koreans will spread into space.”In 2013, South Korea launched a satellite to orbit with a rocket called Naro. However, Reuters reported that while the Naro is a joint project with Russia, Nuri is completely domestic developed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute.Space NewsSpace.com is the latest source of astronomical news and space discoveries, live coverage of space flights, and space science. travel.www.space.comSpace NewsSpace.com is the latest source of astronomical news and space discoveries, live coverage of space flights, and space science. travel.www.space.comSpace NewsSpace.com is the latest source of astronomical news and space discoveries, live coverage of space flights, and space science. travel.www.space.com
